More Time at Big Cypress National Park!
We decided to venture out with the Harper family at a couple of little trails and sights around the Big Cypress Preserve.
This boardwalk trail was like stepping into another world.
Look at those monkeys! HA!
The cypress trees' trunks are like nothing I've ever seen! It looked like big hands or claws grabbing the ground.
Here is one of the yucky swamps on the trail. Talk about pea soup!
Here is an orchid, one of many, growing in the swampy forest!
The kids, all ten of them, were SPITTING into the pond! Apparently, the fish thought it was appetizing!
We happened upon this centipede on the ground....
At another visitor center, we saw the totally cool mangrove trees. Look at that root system!
YEP! See that large sea creature floating in the pond?
There were around 5 or more manatees!! YEAH!
It was so exciting to finally see these guys. They are just enormous and have these thick, flat flippers for tails.
On our way back to the campground, we stopped to see the smallest post office in the United States!
Seriously! Isn't it cute?!
Another great day learning and appreciating all the varieties of life!
Blessings,
Steph

Hi Mrs Golden!
ReplyDeleteI hate to correct you or anything, but I just wanted to let you know that there were actually only nine kids spitting into the pond!! I am much too sophisticated for such nonsense...and being a 17 year old and all I figured I'd better act maturely :P lol
I miss you guys already!!! Can't wait to see you again soon!
Love, Jessie
