Montezuma's Castle is a National Historical Site near Verde Valley, AZ. Is this just too cool!!??
The Pueblo Indians built these cliff dwellings many, many years ago, with mud and rock! This structure is actually about 150 ft. off the ground! They built ladders out of sycamore and Yucca trees, constructed the foundation and walls, and then raised the ladder to continue up and up, till they had a 5 story dwelling. Unbelievable. Fascinating.
I am SO impressed by the pioneers, Indians, and anyone for that matter, who uses what they have, how simple it may be, and finds a way to live practically and succeed. These walls contain a kitchen, living quarters, bedrooms and even a 'look-out' tower.
We went with the Harper family, and the kids did a fantastic job searching for all the answers. Again, the weather in the Sedona area, this time of year, has been so beautiful.
This is Castle A. Another cliff dwelling with rooms behind the walls. :)
Great job Harper family and Golden Gang!! :)
Blessings,
Steph
